Unlocking the Power of Transpromo: Enhancing Your Output With Additional Pages

Welcome back to the third installment of our series on Transpromo workflows, where we explore how Solimar Systems’ solutions can help you bring your Transpromo initiatives to life. In this session, we’ll delve into two methods for adding and controlling inserts within composed print data without requiring changes to your document composition or host-level applications.

Controlling Inserts: The Traditional Way
Our first method for controlling inserts involves adding inserter controls, such as barcodes and Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) marks, to the output. These controls facilitate traditional machine insertion. Based on information about each document or statement, the appropriate inserter controls are added to the output and subsequently printed. The inserter machinery then interprets these control marks and inserts the corresponding materials as needed.

Controlling Inserts: The Digital Way
The second method, more aligned with modern Transpromo workflows, involves adding electronic inserts to the data stream. These inserts are printed inline with the original data, and they’re selected based on information obtained about each mailpiece. Electronic inserts offer greater flexibility. They can have different content on the front and back, and they can include additional information, either extracted from the print file or obtained from external sources.

To ensure compatibility with a range of output devices, different inserts can be added at runtime, including full-color or black-and-white inserts at various resolutions, all optimized for the target devices.

Tailoring Inserts to Your Needs
Controlling when a specific insert or barcode should be applied to the output provides extensive flexibility. This control can be based on information extracted from the print data, including metadata or comments, or obtained from external sources. For example, if credit card purchases trigger specific inserts, transaction data could be extracted to an external file. A process then calculates the best insert for each recipient, and this information is incorporated back into the processing rules and matched with the appropriate inserts.

Electronic Inserts: Benefits and Beyond
Using electronic inserts instead of traditional hardcopy inserts offers several advantages. First, it can reduce costs by eliminating the need to manage pre-printed physical inserts. Second, it allows real-time updates to the content of the inserts, enabling a wider variety of relevant information. Third, there is no limit to the number of bins, as with inserters, so there is no cap on the number of different electronic inserts that can be dynamically applied to the output.

The process can also include generating address pages when the output is intended for mailing in a flat format. These address pages can be generated on the fly, and they provide an excellent opportunity to introduce transpromo messages and advertising, maximizing the use of white space and improving the relevance and aesthetics of the output.

Mining Data with SOLindexer
To facilitate this process, Solimar offers SOLindexer, our primary data-mining tool that operates as a plug-in for Adobe Acrobat. This tool allows users to work with the formatted output and draw bounding boxes around the fields they wish to extract, which can then be used to control downstream Transpromo processing rules. For instance, based on a customer’s frequent flyer status and total miles, various actions can be triggered during Rubika’s processing.

Harnessing Metadata for Enhanced Control
In addition to working with printed content on the page, Solimar’s workflow solutions also support indexing information that is not part of the printed output. This often refers to metadata, which can be handled through various methods, offering our customers a great deal of flexibility in controlling processing events within the workflow.

Unlock the Power of Rubika
Rubika is the go-to solution for enhancing your existing output. It’s part of Solimar’s Chemistry platform of workflow solutions, offering print file conversions, connectivity, document enhancement, online presentment, and archiving. While these products can work independently, they truly shine when combined, providing a comprehensive solution for your overall production print workflows.

We hope you found this session enlightening. We encourage you to explore our other sessions on how Solimar’s solutions relate to Transpromo workflows.
