Solimar Systems Announces Release of iCONVERT™ 9.0

New Release Provides Enhanced AFP Capabilities

SAN DIEGO, CA – October 27, 2003 – Solimar Systems, Inc. announces iCONVERT 9.0, a new release of Solimar’s AFP printer emulation software. iCONVERT is a production print server that transforms IPDS print data into various output formats to meet a wide variety of printing and electronic presentation requirements. iCONVERT 9.0 includes PCL, PDF, and PostScript output capabilities in its base system component. TIFF output is available through an optional add-on module.

A significant feature of iCONVERT 9.0 is the ability to generate composite (non-raster) PostScript and PDF output. Composite data provides smaller output files and faster printer processing compared to full-page graphic output. In addition, the text is searchable and indexable, allowing PostScript and PDF reports to be easily archived and reprinted. The PDF output of iCONVERT supports both Type 3 and Type 1 Outline fonts for greater flexibility in meeting reprint and electronic presentation needs. Type 3 fonts provide exact document fidelity for identical reprints of the original output, whereas Type 1 fonts may be utilized for their electronic display qualities within Adobe Acrobat Reader.

“iCONVERT 9.0 is well suited for companies striving to do more with less, while leveraging existing technologies,” states Drew F. Sprague, President and CEO of Solimar Systems, Inc. “AFP represents a significant infrastructure asset for many of our customers. As a result, we are continually developing innovative and robust solutions, combined with high quality and responsive support, that help clients obtain the most value from their AFP investments.”

iCONVERT 9.0 enables companies to process AFP applications on non-AFP devices. The most common uses are printing centralized output on non-AFP distributed and production printers, and creating electronic output for use in Internet, fax or email applications.

Benefits of iCONVERT 9.0 include:

  • Enterprise-wide delivery of AFP formatted documents on PCL and PostScript printers;
  • Electronic distribution of AFP via TIFF and PDF for web-presentment, fax, e-mail and ERM/COLD systems;
  • Centralized control for hundreds of devices with a single system;
  • Browser-based system monitoring for remote management;
  • Support for SNA, TCP/IP, and mixed connectivity environments;
  • Support for dynamic routing of output based on data content.

iCONVERT 9.0 enables companies to process AFP applications on non-AFP devices. The most common uses are printing centralized output on non-AFP distributed and production printers, and creating electronic output for use in Internet, fax or email applications.
