Fall Events Propel the Print Industry to a Successful Year End

2018 Solimar Events

Fourth Quarter is really a time to reflect on how the year has gone and what we still want to accomplish before year end. It is also at this time that we look at the industry events we have attended, especially since they start to wind down moving into the holiday season. This year has been especially exciting with what seems like a busier-than-usual August through October.

Regulars on the SOLiblog will recall back in late July a post we made about the upcoming events and the benefits they provide print and digital communications providers in education and the opportunity to explore innovation. The One-Stop-Shop for Print Technology, Workflow Software, and Innovative Ideas provided a roadmap for the industry events in Customer Communications Management (CCM), mailing and postal affairs, printing (including inkjet) and the opportunity for Solimar Customer Advisory Council (CAC) members to attend our fall update. Here is a quick look back at the list of events…noting that we still have some to participate in the next several weeks! (full and up-to-date event list here)

If you missed some of these events, which would be understandable given the timing and breadth of the subject matter they cover, we have a quick synopsis for you and ways to get up to speed on what happened during the event.

BCC Information Exchange and MAILCOM FALL 2018 both focus around print and mail. BCC is a strong partner with Solimar Systems and has recently announced their latest offerings in Compliance+ for mailing and postal sorting customers. With full integration into our Chemistry™ Platform of print enhancement and workflow software, this user conference showed their customer base the power of BCC and how it can be leveraged to do more when connected to the larger workflow.

And then there is MAILCOM; an event that is educational in nature and helps mailing and postal industry folks certify or recertify to stay in lock step with the current regulations. Our workflow and mailing expert, David Day, presented a number of interesting and informative sessions during the three-day conference in Las Vegas. You can get a little bit of the flavor from our news announcement on the sessions—and we invite you to reach out to us if you would like to know more about any one of his session topics.

thINK, a Canon inkjet focused event hosted by Canon Solutions America out of Boca Raton, was moved up this year to September due to the overlap in timing with PRINT 18 this year in Chicago. The event is laser-focused on inkjet, and you can catch up on all the news and innovations coming out of the Canon house by reviewing the #thINKforum2018 stream on Twitter. There were a lot of good tidbits posted. And it has become one of the premier inkjet events in North America.

The heavy hitter for the print and graphic communication industry—and for our team CCM—is October and PRINT 18. As part of the event, INg has their Fall Forum ahead of the PRINT 18 show opening, and for our second year in a row, Solimar has continued the tradition of hosting our Solimar CAC for a fall meeting update. Add to this that Label Expo was the week before and you have a lot of print happening all at once in one of America’s finest cities.

What you need to know about PRINT 18 and INg is this…review our press release for the latest innovations we were showing in workflow, dashboards and print enhancement (or transforms and document re-engineering if you want to keep it old school). Then check our streams on Twitter and Instagram: #2018INgWorkshop, #SOLiPRINT18 and #SOLiCAC18. You can also watch our team speak about the industry on a number of panels as part of the 2nd busiest booth at PRINT18—The PRINTERVERSE. The topics included:

Also as part of PRINT 18, we were awarded two different Red Hot Technologies trophies. One for our Chemistry Platform that provides workflow automation, oversight and enhancement solutions to the print and digital communications industry and one for Solimar AR, a solution that offers the highest level of engagement with customers through data-driven, personalized, variable and location-based augmented reality.

By the numbers, the interest level and conversations had with clients and partners were elevated as compared to last year. From the analyst presentations, we know there is a drumbeat building for inkjet printing and now is the time to leverage better workflow and visibility tools to keep up with speed of business and communications today.
