Solimar Systems Announces SOLscript™

Product Extends the Reach of Xerox VIPP® Applications to Virtually Any Output Device

SAN DIEGO, CA – October 27, 2003 – Solimar Systems Inc. announces SOLscript, a PostScript preamble that emulates Xerox’s VIPP software. SOLscript extends the reach of VIPP applications to virtually all types and brands of workgroup and production printers, as well as ERM/COLD systems. With SOLscript, users can reproduce VIPP applications on devices supporting PostScript, PDF, PCL, IPDS, Metacode or TIFF.

SOLscript runs as a preamble on top of PostScript emulating modules of the Solimar® Print/Director System, including the newly announced Quantum Server Edition™. Print/Director receives VIPP print jobs by TCPIP or watched directories and dynamically converts the VIPP commands and data into appropriate output formats. Print/Director then routes the output to the destination device by one of several connectivity options, including TCPIP, Windows print queue, SCSI or spool file. SOLscript supports monochrome, highlight, and full color devices, as well as a broad range of finishing capabilities (binding, stitching, etc).

SOLscript supports Native Mode, Line Mode and Database Mode VIPP commands, including output from:

  • VIPP IDE from Xerox
  • Proform Designer from Lytrod Software
  • DeskTop Designer from Lytrod Software
  • Document Design System from Red Titan
  • AppBuilder for VIPP from Elixir
  • Transformation Suite from Elixir
  • Papyrus from ISIS
  • N-Series Server from Dataline Systems
  • D.A.R.T. from Dataline Systems
  • DocuRight from FirstLogic
  • PrintShop Mail from Atlas Software BV
  • DataMerge from Banta

SOLscript Manager, included with SOLscript, manages VIPP user resources, VIPP control files (JDT and DBM) and data files. SOLscript Manager provides an intuitive tool for loading, managing, and deleting these resources and can be used in lieu of Xerox’s VIPP Manage software.
