Solimar® Print Director™ Enterprise (SPDE)

Powerful Enterprise Print Server

SPDE - Document Direct

The Solimar® Print Director™ Enterprise (SPDE) is a set of programs designed to turn your computer into a powerful enterprise output management system. SPDE connects host computers to production printers that, under normal circumstances, cannot interface with each other. For example, SPDE can be used to connect midrange or mainframe hosts and networks to one or more printers and archive systems.

SPDE allows you to print from multiple host computers to multiple printing devices simultaneously. It can also perform multiple conversion routines on each print file. By supporting combinations of inputs, outputs, and conversions, SPDE gives you a powerful print manager that transparently connects your host systems with the production printers your company needs. As your requirements grow, you can add software modules, install additional inputs and outputs, or upgrade to take advantage of new features and capabilities.

The power of SPDE lies in its ability to interface with virtually any host or printer. Moreover, its processing control, conversion routines, and job management capabilities allow a very high degree of control over your printing environment.

Legacy Adapters (32-bit operating systems - ONLY!)

  • SPDE host computers that will connect to legacy systems and devices must provide suitable slots for the adapter cards. The following legacy adapter cards require a 5-V PCI slot:
    • Parallel Input adapter
    • Tiger II and Tiger III BUS/TAG adapter
    • P6100 and P6101 BUS/TAG adapter
    • SCSI adapter (SCSI SDI Output module and Tape Input module)
  • The P6200 BUS/TAG input card is compatible with the following slots:
    • 3.3-V PCI slot
    • 5-V PCI slot
    • 3.3-V 100-MHz PCI-X slot
  • All legacy adapters are full-height PCI cards. The P6100, P6101, and P6200 BUS/TAG input legacy adapters are fulllength cards (13.5" long) and require sufficient unobstructed space inside the PC chassis. All other legacy adapters are half-length cards.
  • Each SCSI hard drive used by the SCSI SDI Output module requires one 3.5" bay and power supply connection.
  • Some legacy Xerox workflows may require a 3.5" or 5.25" diskette drive for the transfer of resources.

Channel Adapters (32-bit operating systems - ONLY!)

  • The channel adapters currently shipping (ESCON, Channel In, Channel Out) are compatible with the following slots:
    • 5-V slots
    • 3.3-V slots
    • PCI slots
    • PCI-X slots
  • The Channel In and Channel Out adapters are full-height, half-length cards.
  • The ESCON adapter is a full-height and full-length card and requires sufficient unobstructed space inside the PC chassis.

* A USB hub device can be used to increase the number of USB ports. USB ports are not required for any products using machine validation licensing.
