SAN DIEGO, CA - Solimar Systems, Inc. announces new features for Xerox LPS resource management. Having conflicting resources on printers can now be a thing of the past! Added functionality in the XCHANGE::Metacode Module of the Solimar® Print/Director supports tracking and updating Xerox resources at a job level and individual printer basis. The Module supports Xerox LPS resource version control for font (.FNT), form (.FRM), logo (.LGO), image (.IMG) and Job Source Libraries (.JSL) files.
The module provides resource version control by allowing for a different set of resources to be placed in as many directories as needed. Some companies will have a directory structure for each printer, others may use a set of directories for each application or customer. The module can be set to update all resources associated with a job or to only update new resources. The module embeds all the resources used by a job within the output data ensuring that it will print with the correct version.
The XCHANGE::Metacode Module also provides a quick and easy way to ensure that all the resources each job requires are available. This eliminates sending a job to a printer just to have it cancel because of a missing resource. Simply process the LCDS or Metacode file with the module and it will flag the job to alert operators there is a problem and create a log of resources not available. A log can also be created of all the resources a job uses to help with application development and version control.
In addition to XCHANGE::Metacode Module managing resources, it optimizes Xerox applications for the utmost of efficiency. Applications that currently do not print rated speed will be greatly enhanced for faster printing. The module also converts offline data into online data. For reprints, the module enables the restarting of a print file from any page.
