SAN DIEGO, CA - Solimar Systems, Inc. announces the immediate availability of three new emulation modules for the Solimar® Print/Director System NT (SP/D NT) that enable the direct conversion of PDF documents into TIFF, IPDS and Xerox Metacode. The PDF::IPDS, PDF::Metacode, and PDF::TIFF Emulation Modules are available as add-on licenses for current customers, or as standard licensing options for new installations.
The ability to accept PDF documents with no mitigating application or driver gives Solimar customers significantly increased flexibility in the print shop. PDF is commonly used as a format for source files and for archiving print data. Its cross-platform portability allows print centers to accept fully formatted documents from almost any system without worrying about output fidelity or printer driver and application compatibility issues. The PDF Emulation Modules eliminate the need to first open, and then print PDF files with a Windows printer driver. Now, PDF documents can be submitted directly to SP/D NT for printing on production and distributed printers that do not natively support PDF.
The PDF::Metacode Module enables the printing of PDF documents on Xerox LPS Metacode printers. When used in conjunction with SP/D NT's SCSI SDI connection, the PDF::Metacode Module output will drive LPS printers at rated speed.
The PDF::IPDS conversion allows for PDF files to be printed on IPDS printers. SP/D NT's IPDS Printer Controller Module sends the IPDS output directly to IPDS printers via TCP/IP.
The PDF::TIFF emulation converts PDF documents into TIFF files. TIFF files are used with many archive systems that do not support PDF.
PDF documents can be converted for PostScript and PCL printers by using additional emulation modules in the SP/D NT configuration.
