SAN DIEGO, CA - Solimar Systems, Inc. announces the immediate availability of the XCHANGE::Metacode Emulation Module. XCHANGE::Metacode is a new data stream conversion module of the Solimar® Print/Director System NT (SP/D NT) that greatly enhances printing speeds of Xerox LCDS and Metacode applications.
Solimar's XCHANGE::Metacode Module was developed to optimize LCDS and/or Metacode applications for printing on Xerox LPS printers at the fastest speed possible. Many LCDS and Metacode applications output inefficient data that contains too many records per page, and is unable to run Xerox LPS production printers at rated or near rated speed. This module converts Metacode and LCDS data and resources into Metacode files that will process more efficiently on an LPS printer. The XCHANGE::Metacode Module restructures the inefficient LCDS/Metacode to have less records per page, allowing the application to run at (or closer to) rated speed. The module also reblocks Metacode data into VLR format, which is useful when using SP/D NT's Job Separator to separate sub documents in a job for remote distribution or for use with an archiving system.
Production benefits of XCHANGE::Metacode include:
- Compress loosely structured Metacode data by up to 75%.
- Reduce the number of records per page to greatly improve printer performance.
- Image records can be formatted into 2049-byte records for the fastest possible printing.
- Print data received via Remote Job Entry (RJE) can be restructured for optimum on-line BUS/TAG printing performance.
- RJE data with 256-byte records can be compressed into fewer records.
- A record can be added to each page for parsing data into sub documents.
- Allows the LCDS/Metacode file to be started on any page for reprinting sections of the job.
- Converts off-line data into on-line format eliminating the need for tapes and operator handling.
The XCHANGE::Metacode Module is a new printer emulation option in the Solimar® Print/Director System NT print server. The print server links host systems to production and distributed printers and other network devices by combining integrated connectivity, advanced queue/spool management, and multiple printer emulations on a Windows NT platform.
