SAN DIEGO, CA - Solimar Systems, Inc. announces new functionality for the Job Separator Module. The module now supports testing for a change in variable information from page to page trigger report separation and the filtering out of information for job naming. Additionally, a page count can now be specified to control the splitting of PostScript files created by the XCHANGE::PostScript Module destined for any PostScript printer model . In addition to parsing data, the Job Separator Module is used to extract information from data files to control routing and file identification for operators and archive products.
The ability to compare variable data for change from previous pages replicates the Xerox CRITERIA CHANGE NE LAST PDL feature. Prior to this feature, the Job Separator required a constant string to be included with the data to specify a break or data extraction point. With the new functionality, there does not need to be a constant field in the data to trigger results. By specifying a line number and position, the module can now be set to look for a change in information from each page to the following pages. The sophisticated logic needed to track comparison strings on a page-by-page basis is enabled with the same easy to use GUI options current Print/Director users have grown accustomed to.
Previously, the Job Separator Module could parse PostScript intended for a Xerox NPS on a page count. This feature was added to compensate for the NPS' 65k page limit for one report (no longer an issue w/ latest NPS OS). The Module now supports parsing XCHANGE::PostScript output formatted for any PostScript printer into sections based on a user-specified page count.
The Job Separator Module is commonly used for:
- Information extracted is used to name files for operator tracking and archive product file retrieval;
- Parsing large legacy applications into smaller segments;
- The separated files can then be "load balanced" to multiple printers;
- Printers that require the entire file to be received before the job can start printing can now start printing each parsed section of the job before the entire print job is received;
- Large jobs can be sent to print on production printers and small jobs to midrange printers;
- Extracted information enables automated routing features;
- Provides operators with job information to control distribution, reprints, and printer requirements.
