IPDS is a printer data stream requiring bi-directional communication between the host computer and the printing system. This bi-directional communication facilitates error handling and recovery for common printing errors like paper jams and "toner out" conditions.

The IPDS Print Management Module works with the XCHANGE::IPDS and PostScript/2::IPDS Emulation Modules of the Solimar® Print/Director System NT to provide Xerox LCDS and PostScript Level 2 emulation for IPDS printers.
