SAN DIEGO, CA - Solimar Systems, Inc. announces even faster transfer rates for the BUS/TAG Input Module! The BUS/TAG Input Module emulates channel attached printers as a means for host systems to submit data to Solimar Print Servers via BUS/TAG. A "Buffer Input" option has been added to the BUS/TAG Input Module that enables data to be buffered by the module as it is received. This reduces processing overhead and eliminates the need for some host applications to wait for each record to be processed before the next record can be sent.
Prior to the Buffer Input option's addition the BUS/TAG Input Module was capable of receiving data fast enough to drive multiple high-speed printers rated speed. However, in the production print server business faster is always better! The enhanced performance will vary from environment to environment based upon various factors such as the size of the records composing the data and mainframe spooling capabilities.
The Solimar® Print/Director and Connectivity Server offer various choices for mainframe connectivity. Mainframe connectivity options include BUS/TAG, RJE 3770, ESCON 3480 Tape Emulation, and TCP/IP (FTP, direct socket, LPD/LPR). These input options allow for Solimar Servers to replicate how data was submitted to printers prior to the product's installation. This flexibility avoids customers from having to make any application or spooling system changes when placing Solimar products.
Since most host systems use a BUS/TAG Channel to connect to legacy production printers, the BUS/TAG Input Module is the most popular option for sending mainframe data to Solimar Servers. Companies with remote Mainframes or printers commonly use RJE 3770 to transfer print data. Solimar's RJE input supports SDLC, Tokenring and Ethernet connections.
Using BUS/TAG or RJE input avoids the need to procure and support expensive mainframe software to enable TCP/IP print transfer and eliminates the chance of complications that may occur when attempting to implement mainframe TCP/IP printing of legacy applications.
