The Solimar® Print/Director (SP/D) is a PC-based print server that combines connectivity, data conversion, and printer emulation with sophisticated queue management and job control on a Windows 2000 platform. In addition to supporting AFP data, SP/D is commonly used to convert Xerox DJDE, LCDS and Metacode applications into PCL, PostScript, IPDS, TIFF and PDF. The print management functionality SP/D enables companies to leverage the capabilities of existing print equipment with expanded connectivity and print datastream support. For example, an existing Xerox production printer can add PCL, PostScript, and IPDS support or an existing PostScript printer can add DJDE, Metacode, and IPDS support. IPDS printer users can also benefit from SP/D by converting PCL, PostScript, and Xerox datastreams into IPDS.
