IPDS Printer Controller Output Module
The IPDS Print Controller output connectivity module of the Solimar® Print Director™ Enterprise (SPDE) drives IPDS printers over a TCP/IP network or BUS/TAG connection. The module works in conjunction with the PostScript::IPDS, PDF::IPDS and XCHANGE::IPDS modules by routing PostScript, PDF, and Xerox LCDS/Metacode applications to printers that support IPDS. This output module receives the IPDS generated from either of the conversion modules and sends the data to network printers via TCP/IP or BUS/TAG.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
General
  • Provides bi-directional communication from the Solimar server to the IPDS printers
  • Sends data via TCP/IP port protocol or BUS/TAG connection
  • Supports cut-sheet and continuous feed printers
  • IP addresses can be manually entered or dynamically obtained
  • Port selection includes:
    • IPDS printer (5100)
    • HP JetDirect (9100)
    • Use Port Number (custom)
  • Detailed message option can display extended communication information
  • Supports a user defined page count for how often to check the printer for errors
  • Supports a user defined timeout value for when to cancel jobs
  • Eliminates the need for a PSF server to send IPDS output to the printer(s)
  • Maintains constant communication throughout the printing process
