to discuss their implementation of Solimar® Print Director™ Enterprise
and SOLsearcher™ Enterprise.

Pinnacle Data Systems had been using the Solimar® Print/Director™
system for several years, but wanted to upgrade to the newer and more robust
Solimar® Print Director™ Enterprise (SPDE) version to take advantage
of the enhanced product functionality and latest system architecture for managing
their production printing. Pinnacle had a business objective of improving the
overall control and management of their print workflow across multiple locations.
They also wanted to centralize operations by functioning at an enterprise level
to ensure consistent workflow standards, efficient resource print management,
and full disaster recovery for business continuity between both sites.
Pinnacle had also been using an internally developed web presentment system
to support the archival, search, and retrieval of electronic documents. Although
the "home grown" system was functional, it was too expensive to maintain,
had scalability limitations, and lacked the required features Pinnacle needed
to expand their business.
By upgrading to the client-server architecture of Solimar Print Director Enterprise
(SPDE), Pinnacle was able to accomplish the company's business goals. "Upgrading
to 'Enterprise' version of the Print Director product has allowed us to better
manage and control our output across both our sites," said Eric Wilson.
The SPDE System Manager module allows Pinnacle's system administrators to
set security rights that control the access and actions of all users. The flexible
security functionality enables Pinnacle to track operator activity and determine
what interface is presented to each user. Applying granular security levels
associated with user logins provides maximum operational control by granting
customized privileges based on each user. Pinnacle system administrators define
and manage workflow rights of operators using the SPDE System Manager, while
operators have access to the SPDE Queue Manager module to control and monitor
job workflows.
In addition to upgrading to SPDE, Pinnacle also retired and migrated away
from their internally-developed "home grown" web presentment system
to Solimar's SOLsearcher™ Enterprise solution. Designed to complement
or replace existing print processes, SOLsearcher allows Pinnacle to securely
access critical business documents and reports via the web.
"SOLsearcher is a full-featured electronic document delivery and web
presentment solution that enables us to effectively index, store, search, and
retrieve large volumes of electronic documents," said Wilson. "SOLsearcher
provides us with virtually unlimited scalability to expand as our business needs
grow. Our development staff can now focus on other projects rather than supporting
our previous internally-developed web presentment system."

The financial impact of implementing Solimar's SPDE and SOLsearcher Enterprise
systems has been a large success for Pinnacle. They have discovered several
workflow areas to implement automation that has significantly reduced Pinnacle's
labor costs. "By upgrading to SPDE and adding SOLsearcher, we have streamlined
many of our business processes, reduced operating expenses and enhanced our
offerings to our clients," said Wilson.
